Sweden 2001

We drove from Germany to Denmark to visit with Wayne's family many times. This trip included a drive across the new bridge that connected Denmark with Sweden. We stayed in Malmo, Sweden for the Summer Solstice. It was a holiday celebration, most businesses were closed and the objective for the townspeople during their three days of festivities was to consume as much pickled herring and beer as humanly possible. We did our best and then some.

Denmark 2001

A view from Tagge's (Wayne's relative) dairy farm. They found a stone axe from prehistoric times on their land and it was amazing to hold it.

Wayne is standing at an historic plaque for A.D. Jorgensen, a famous Danish patriot who was Wayne's great uncle. While he was in charge of the records of vital statistics for all of Denmark in Copenhagen's library, there was a fire and he saved the invaluable documents.

Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark.

Wayne's aunt Margit, all of us enjoying a wonderful Smorgeasbord.

Wayne volunteered to teach English to Japanese soldiers. The culminating function was a speech contest. Misawa Air Force Base was unique in that it is was shared by the U.S. and Japan.

The Fish Pond '09 and '07

Building the fish pond was a great undertaking and it is rewarding to see that it and (the fish) have survived freezing winters and sweltering summers. Thanks to the crew from '07!
